SMS Terms of Service

The Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ (Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ) uses text messages to share information about student communications, campus services, events, and promotions with individuals who choose to participate in covered Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ text-messaging programs.

These Terms of Service explain how participation works, what types of messages you may receive, how to get help, and how to manage your text-messaging preferences. For information about how Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ handles information related to covered text-messaging programs, please review our SMS Privacy Policy.

What Programs Do These Terms Apply To?

These Terms of Service apply to Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ text-messaging programs whose affirmative opt-in processes reference or link to the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ SMS Terms of Service and SMS Privacy Policy.

Covered messages may include:

  • Student communications
  • Campus services
  • Events
  • Promotions

Depending on your relationship with Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ and the programs you choose to hear from, messages may include information about admissions, enrollment, registration, financial aid, student success resources, deadlines, campus events, service updates, cancellations, closures, and related outreach.

Recipients may include:

  • Prospective students
  • Applicants
  • Current students
  • Individuals registering for or expressing interest in Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ programs, services, or events
  • Other individuals who affirmatively opt in through a Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ consent process that references these policies

These Terms do not govern emergency-notification systems or emergency communications.

How Do I Sign Up?

Participation is voluntary.

You may choose to receive text messages through an affirmative opt-in process, such as:

  • Admissions applications
  • Request for Information (RFI) forms
  • Event registration forms
  • Other Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ consent processes that reference these Terms of Service and the SMS Privacy Policy

Consent requires a clear affirmative action indicating that you want to receive covered text messages.

Providing a mobile phone number, submitting a form, applying to Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ, registering for an event, or requesting information does not by itself constitute consent to receive covered text messages.

Consent to receive covered text messages is not required to apply to, enroll at, participate in, or receive services from Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ.

Message Frequency and Charges

Message frequency may vary.

The number and type of messages you receive may depend on your relationship with Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ, the programs or services you use, your expressed interests, and the consent you have provided.

Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ does not charge a separate fee to participate in covered text-messaging programs.

Message and data rates may apply based on your wireless carrier's plan.

If you have questions about your text-messaging or data plan, please contact your wireless provider.

How Do I Stop Text Messages?

Reply STOP to a message to opt out of messages from the associated Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ messaging program or sender.

After you opt out, you may receive a confirmation message.

A STOP request applies to the messaging program or sender associated with the message you received. Opting out of one Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ messaging program may not opt you out of other Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ messaging programs for which you separately provided consent.

How Do I Get Help?

Reply HELP to a message for assistance.

Short Code 20426 and Supported Keywords

Some Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ text-messaging programs use short code 20426.

For programs that use short code 20426:

  • HELP may be used to request assistance.
  • STOP may be used to opt out of the associated messaging program.
  • START may be used to subscribe or re-subscribe to the associated text-messaging program where supported.

Keyword behavior described in this section applies to the short-code program and should not be assumed to apply to every Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ messaging sender, number, or platform.

Re-Subscription

If you previously opted out of a Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ text-messaging program, you may re-subscribe through a new affirmative opt-in process associated with that program.

Re-subscribing to one Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ messaging program does not automatically subscribe or re-subscribe you to other Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ messaging programs.

Message Delivery

Delivery of text messages depends on factors outside Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ's control, including wireless-carrier networks and device availability.

Wireless carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ does not guarantee that every text message will be delivered successfully or delivered within a particular timeframe.

Changes to These Terms

Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ may update these Terms of Service from time to time to reflect changes in messaging practices, operational requirements, or legal and compliance obligations.

The current version will be posted on this page together with the Effective Date and Last Revised date.
